ELTE’s Psychology programme in the top 130 globally

In the latest global higher education rankings issued by U.S. News, Eötvös Loránd University tops the ranking of Hungarian universities once again this year. ELTE’s psychology programme, which is offered by the Faculty of Education and Psychology, has achieved an outstanding result, ranking 129th.

The 2024/2025 Higher Education Rankings by the U.S. News & World Report have been published, ranking 2250 universities from 100 countries according to 13 indicators. These indicators include, among others, the number of publications and conferences, global and regional research reputation, international collaboration rates, and the number of publications in the top one percent of citations in the given discipline.

From among Hungarian universities, ELTE achieved the best result again this year, ranking 485th. Our university is followed by Semmelweis University in 590th place, the University of Szeged in 796th place and the University of Debrecen in 902nd place.

Eötvös Loránd University has achieved great results in 11 of the disciplines that U.S. News ranked: it came in 129th in Psychology, 135th in Space Sciences, and 155th in Physics.

The psychology programme offered by ELTE PPK has beaten such regional institutions as the University of Vienna, Masaryk University in Brno, the University of Warsaw and Charles University in Prague.

In addition to the above, ELTE is considered by U.S. News as the best place to study in Hungary in four other fields: mathematics, earth sciences, plant and animal sciences, and social sciences. Furthermore, ELTE was ranked among the best universities in the world in biology and biochemistry, environmental science, chemistry, and clinical pharmacy as well.

In the global rankings, the top ten were again made up of US and UK universities, with Harvard retaining top spot.
