PPK lecturer received the Tóth Géza award
Mihály Koszogovits, a master teacher at the ELTE PPK Institute of Sports Science in Szombathely, was honoured for his outstanding contributions to the competitive and elite sports field, in Szombathely, for several years. 

The award was granted to the PPK lecturer during the St Martin’s Gala on November 12th. The event, which has been organized for over three decades around St. Martin’s Day, honours those who have done a lot for Szombathely in many disciplines (e.g. sports, art, education, health, social sphere) and have left a lasting impression. The award, named after Géza Tóth, a former great weightlifter and master coach of the county capital of Vasa, can only be granted to one person every year.

Mihály Koszogovits was born in 1965 in Szombathely. He completed his secondary-school studies at the Savaria Technical Secondary School. Afterwards, he graduated from the Berzsenyi Dániel Teacher Training College with a diploma in physical education and, in 1997, from the Janus Pannonius University of Sciences with a diploma in secondary school physical education. From 1990 to 1996, he was a physical education teacher at vocational secondary schools, and from 1997, he worked in higher education. Since 1997, he has been working as an adjunct professor at the Institute of Sport Science, Department of Sport at the University of West Hungary, then at the Institute of Sport Science, Faculty of Education and Psychology, ELTE, as a master teacher of sports activities and a member of the János Mészáros Research Group on Applied Exercise Ethics. His research interests include martial arts and combat sports.

From 1985, he was the head of the Kungfu Department of the Contoll Sports Association in Szombathely, and in 1987, he was a founding member of the Hungarian Kungfu Section.

He is the founder of the “Chang Dung Sheng Shaolin Kung Fu Association Hungary” (SKAH), established in 1996, and the leading master and professional director of SKAH in Hungary. From 1998 to 2015, he was the President of the Controll Sports Association in Szombathely and later Chairman of the Coaching Committee.

In addition, he has been vice president of the Hungarian Traditional Kungfu and Wushu Professional Association since 2005, a board member of the Hungarian Kick-Boxing Association since 2004, a board member of the Hungarian Coaches Association of Martial Arts and Fighting Sports Section since 2013, and the professional and amateur kickboxing world and European champion coach of Zoltán Dancsó “Kicsi” from 2001 to 2015.

Twelve-time national kickboxing champion (1992-2002), world kungfu champion, Chang-style Shaolin kung fu master, Tzü Wei Shu kung fu master, Chang-style Tai Chi Chuan instructor and kickboxing master with V.dan certification.

In 2001, he was awarded the “Sports Member of the Service of Vas County Municipality”; in 2004, the “Perpetual Sports Champion of Vas County”; in 2006, the “Sports and Arts” award. In 2013, he was awarded the “Coach of the Year” of the Hungarian Traditional Kungfu and Wushu Association in 2012.

He carries out his work with outstanding responsibility, dedication, and humility. His calm and composed personality, humane attitude, and relentless will to do his best have earned him the respect of his colleagues. He is well-balanced and performs his work with high precision and professionalism.
