QS 2025: ELTE is first in Hungary in psychology and educational science

On March 12, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published its 2025 subject rankings, comparing the best universities from all around the world. The ranking evaluated approximately 21,000 programmes from 1700 higher education institutions across 100 countries, covering 5 broad academic disciplines and 55 narrower fields. The assessment was based on academic and employer reputation, citation impact of scientific publications, the Hirsch index, and international research collaborations.
Among the five broad academic disciplines, ELTE appears in the rankings for humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences and management. In the first two disciplines, our university holds the top position in Hungary. Globally, QS ranked ELTE 233rd in the field of humanities.
Among the 55 narrower fields of study, ELTE, as the most successful Hungarian institution, is represented in 15 fields. Of these, ELTE’s psychology and educational science programmes were the only ones from Hungary to be included in the rankings. This means that
the Faculty of Education and Psychology has proved to be the best with regard to these fields.
In the global ranking, the psychology programme is in the top 250 and the educational science programme is in the top 400.
