PPK PSYCHOLOGIST AMONG THE WORLD'S MOST INFLUENTIAL SCIENTISTS
Zsolt Demetrovics, a professor at PPK, has been named one of the most cited researchers in the world. The elite group of nearly 7000 includes four Hungarian scientists.

The list of natural and social scientists with the highest citation rates is published from time to time. Since 2014, Highly Cited Researchers has been aggregating scientific publications of not more than thirty authors and the citation indexes received for them, based on the Web of Science database. The resulting top ranking, therefore, includes the authors, regardless of their field, who have had the greatest impact on the scientific community over the past decade, as shown by the citation data.

Among the researchers who have had a significant impact on the development of science worldwide, four Hungarians made it to the 2022 ranking, one of them Zsolt Demetrovics, psychologist, professor at ELTE, corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and head of the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Gaming at the University of Gibraltar. In addition to the former Dean of PPK, two academics from Semmelweis University, Péter Ferdinandy, pharmacologist and Balázs Győrffy, bioinformatician, and Attila Szolnoki, physicist and member of the MTA, are among the most cited Hungarian scientists in the world.

The list was compiled by the authors of the top 1 per cent of the most cited scientific articles published in the last ten years. The authors of these articles make up an elite club of 6938 researchers from 69 countries. The United States is the most represented group, with 38 per cent of the most influential researchers, more than 2,700 of them Americans. However, China is also prominent with 16 per cent, and the UK, in third place, is in the top group with 8 per cent.

Zsolt Demetrovics' research and work as a dean have been covered in several articles on our website, some of which we offer here:
