My research focuses on how attitudes towards menstruation are born, how they are formed, and how they interact with associated physical symptoms and various psychological factors. Menstruation is a complex bio-psycho-social phenomenon whose interpretation and experience is influenced by personal, social and cultural factors. The first menstrual experience plays a key role in the development of future attitudes and menstruation-related symptoms. Therefore prepubertal education and emotional preparation is a major focus of my research.
